The recommended way to communicated with other members is to use the messaging capability within ManageMyMatch. This keeps all your sports related comms in one place for easy access. You don't have to clutter up your general email inbox, and you can message groups of members as easily as messaging to individuals.
By default, all messages generate an email to a member; but as members get used to going to ManageMyMatch as their central hub for sports activity, members are encouraged to switch the email option off in the notifications tab of My Account. For most browsers and android devices you can elect to have native alerts instead. iPhone alerts will be available later.
Member's email addresses and phone numbers are not generally available to other members unless they specifically permit their details to be published to the full membership. For compliance reasons, personal details of this nature are only made available to another member if this has been done. However, if a member has a record of having personally interacted with another member then they will be granted access to these details. For this to happen the two members must have a record of having shared a match or game together. The other circumstance where details are shared is when a member nominates another as a "best buddy". You can nominate best buddies in the My buddies page. Conversely, you always get to see who has nominated you as their best buddy. If this has been done you'll see this list towards the bottom of the My buddies page.
If you have a match with another member then their phone number is available against their name in the match details in My matches. The phone number and email of your best buddies can also be accessed in My buddies.
You can see a complete list of all club members if you go to My clubs and select the member list button. You can search for a member here and you have a speech icon against each so that you may message them. If a member has allowed their personal details to be shown to all other members then their phone number is also available here.
The quickest way to send a message to some-one is by clicking on the message option in the header and choosing a user in the "Send a new message" section that is towards the bottom of the window that pops up.
There are other situations where it is convenient to message members:
- On a match there is a speech icon to the left of all participants that allows you to message to all participants. This is especially useful for doubles matches where it essentially forms a group chat.
- In a box league you can message everyone in that league by selecting the speech icon next to the league summary in My events. The same speech icon is also next to the league event as listed on your home page in the "My current events" section.
- You can message club officials by locating their names as listed in My clubs
- In My interests you can message the organisers of particular events
ManageMyMatch tries to encourage and control your communication within a club whilst respecting the rights of individuals to protect their personal data from unwanted or unnecessary publication.
