In Manage courts you set up your court schedules under the Court schedule tab. But in order to make these visible to users, you must include them in at least one view. You can do this under the Views tab. A View is your choice of what courts to show to members on what dates.
A view defines what courts are relevant for display and booking purposes at what times. A user can only review courts in the context of a single view. You can have more than one view relevant at any one time, in which case the user will be given the choice to select one of those views. For example, you might have squash and tennis courts and you group the courts belonging to each into their own view so that members only get to see one set for squash or tennis at a time.
A view has a time-line. This means you can set what courts are to be included (if any) based on a date. For example, it may be that you want to exclude a court for a long period of time. Or maybe you want to show a different court schedule over a specific week end. Or you may have scheduled to change your court booking slots to be effective in a few months time. All these scenarios can be achieved with views.
In the Views tab you can create a new view. Give it a name - this can be changed at any time. With a view selected you'll have the ability to Add a new time section. Click this to add a time section beginning tomorrow. All courts are deselected from this time onward. With no courts selected it means that from the date as given this view is effectively unavailable. You can then tick any court as listed against the date to indicate which courts you want to show to members from that date onward.
You can add as many time sections as you like (past and present) and change the date for each. Effectively allowing you to set up a calendar of what courts to show when.
You'll want to have some kind of view starting from when court booking first began as this will be needed when reviewing past bookings.
Because members generally review court bookings on a daily basis, the appropriate courts will show for the date selected as per the date sections you set up in your view. You can set up several views and all those that include at least one court for the date chosen will be available to the user to choose.
