Select the event in question in Manage Events. Then select the Details tab where you'll be able to change the dates of the event. Don't forget to hit the Submit button once done.
The from & to dates of an event are important for a number of reasons. For example, they can determine the cut-off dates of participant age eligibility; They can be used as a key component of a users calendar feed; They determine the period in which court bookings can be made; They are important guidance for users as to when they can expect the event to happen.
The from & to dates do not, however, dictate when the event passes through its work-flow stages. So there's nothing to stop you having an event that is in In play stage yet has not officially started. There is no systematic checks here and it is up to you to be consistent in this respect.
There are a few other details you change for a specific event:
- Notes - Enter a short note here if you want people to be aware of some key information when signing up to the event. Perhaps a brief summary of what it's about or if it costs anything etc
- If the event does not involve playing matches the date fields give you an opportunity to specify a time as well. Typically this is because the event is probably restricted to a place and time and so the to/from dates would be a to/from time on the same date, though this does not have to be the case.
- Similarly, for non-match related events, you are invited to state a venue for the event - perhaps it's a morning's golfing and you can specify the golf club here.
