Member block booking

Overview

This event type exists to provide the means for a member to block book courts for their own purposes. They do so by choosing this event within the block booking section in My bookings. Most often the club will want to limit the courts available by assigning a court set to the event. At the same time, the court fees could be adjusted (downward) from the members standard fee.

In some cases it may be convenient to be able to speed-book for many days in advance, in which case a speed-booking court set will need to be applied after you've created the event.

Note that block bookings are always charged the day before. Make sure your member is aware of this or you can change when the fee is taken by amending the series (Manage series) by responding to this prompt "Days before (-ve) or after (+ve) block bookings to take court" fee within the block booking capabilities panel. By default, the fee is taken the day before in order to discourage late cancellations (as the privilege of being able to book out many courts will materially affect court availability for other members)

Setup

Normally done by a club official

1. Menu Option New Next-gen event
2. Filter on club, sport and name "Member block booking"
3. Click on relevant entry, enter a suitable name and confirm
4. Go to Events tab under Manage clubs, choose this event and:
   1. Add the name(s) of the people you wish to allow to block book in the panel: Restrict block booking/group creation to the following members
   2. Remember to Confirm the form
5. Recommended: If you wish to restrict the courts available for them to block book (very likely), then:
   1. Go to Court sets tab under Manage courts and create a court set that represents the permitted courts for use - see this guide.
   2. Go to Events tab under Manage clubs, choose this event and:
      1. Add the court set under the Curate booking to the following court sets panel
      2. Set a price (this price will only apply if it is less than the usual price to which they are entitled as a member)
      3. Remember to Confirm the form
6. Optional: If you wish to provide them a fast and easy way of booking out a specific set of courts on a regular basis then
   1. Add another court set that defines these courts (would be a subset of the allowed courts) as per step 5.1 above. If you wish to allow fast booking for all the allowable courts, then you can re-use the same court set as above
   2. Add the court set under the Court sets for auto/speed booking panel
   3. Remember to Confirm the form
