Yes. As a family head you can have a family member's personal messages sent to you instead of to them. This is useful, for example, for a young child who has their own login but whose messages you'd rather handle yourself.
How to switch it on
Go to My account and choose the Family members tab. Choose the family member from the drop down and, in the form that appears, tick Send their personal messages to me instead. Then hit Submit.
Only you, as family head, can change this setting. Your family member can't change it, and nor can club officials.
What happens then
- When someone sends your family member a personal message, it comes to you instead. It appears in your own messages, beginning "Diverted from <their first name>:" so you know who it was meant for. You get the usual notification and, if you've opted for it, an email.
- Your family member doesn't receive the message at all.
- The person sending the message isn't told that it has been diverted. On their side it looks exactly like a message to your family member.
- If you reply, your reply comes from you, not from your family member. So the person you reply to will then know that you've seen their message.
- Your own messages to your family member still reach them as normal.
What your family member can still do
While their messages are diverted, your family member can only send personal messages to you. If they try to message anyone else, they'll see a note explaining that their personal messages are managed by their family head.
What isn't diverted
- Messages in group contexts such as a match, box league, team, event or club. Your family member still sees and takes part in these as normal.
- Automatic messages about your family member's own activity, such as booking confirmations.
Switching it off
Untick the box in the same form and hit Submit. New messages then go to your family member again. Messages already diverted to you stay with you.
The setting is also switched off automatically if your family member is made independent.
