Overview
To allow members to arrange matches between each other, they do so in the context of a "Friendly" event. Typically, all members are automatically participants and the event itself is continuous. Members can, however, opt out if desired, for example if they are injured or are absent for extended periods.
As with all events, you need a friendly event for each sport played (e.g. Squash, Squash 57, Tennis etc). Doubles play would also require its own event. In this way members can choose which ones they wish to engage with (based on the sports they play).
Friendly events are set up as a Next-gen event upon club implementation (for each sport) and should require no further management during the life of the club.
The key feature of a friendly event is that any participant can set up a booked match with any other and is able to use the invitation subsystem to find opponents.
It would be rare for a club to have more than one friendly event per sport, but this may be desired for specific purposes (and can be next-gen set up).
Setting up
Normally done by MMM implementations team:
- Menu Option New Next-gen event
- Filter on club, sport and name "Friendlies"
- Click on relevant entry and confirm
