As a club captain you must be a club official. If not, you need to ask an existing club official to add you as club official under the Officials tab in Manage clubs.
As a club official, you can nominate yourself or other officials to be the club representative (aka club captain) for the county leagues. Select the Conditions tab from menu option Hosted events, choose the relevant county league event and select Club representatives. Add your name and hit Submit. You can have more than one person nominated.
As a club representative for a team event, you may expect to:
- Receive messages through MMM from the league organiser on various administrative issues. You'll be able to respond and communicate with the league organiser using MMM messaging
- Set criteria for when home matches can be scheduled
- Nominate the club's teams and their respective captains
- Review fixture schedules and assist in any rescheduling needs
- Control the court booking for your home fixtures
Also, you may want to familiarise yourself with our guide for team players that covers how to review the standings.
Here's a drill down into each of the five activities listed above
Messaging
Using the usual MMM messaging features, you can message anyone involved in the leagues, including the organiser, any team captain or team players. Select the Teams tab from menu option Hosted events and choose the relevant county league event. There you'll see all teams participating and you can select any team to show team details including captains and players. Click a speech icon against a name to message them.
If you wish to message the organisers of the event, you'll find them listed in a section in the Fixtures tab.
Once the fixtures are set, you'll also be able to message the captains (and deputies) on both sides of a match - perhaps to chase up a score entry. Select the Fixtures tab from menu option Hosted events and choose the relevant county league event. All fixtures are listed and you have a speech icon for each. It will be clear here whether past fixtures have been scored and the status of them if not.
Scheduling criteria (optional)
Before fixtures are scheduled by the organiser, you can set your own criteria as to when you want fixtures scheduled at your club. This involves setting dates to avoid and a week-day to use. The organiser may well have dictated the latter already - preventing you from making your own choice.
Select the Fixtures tab from menu option Hosted events and choose the relevant county league event. Then select the Scheduling tab below this.
To exclude specific dates, click the calendar icon to get a complete calendar for the event duration and you can click in any date box to exclude it from scheduling. You only need to select dates on week-days where a fixture could be scheduled. You may find some dates already excluded by the organiser (a light red cross in the date box). A heavy red cross indicates a date you have excluded.
If the organiser has allowed it, you may be able to select the week day on which scheduling should apply. Individual teams can override this setting unless you tick the Prevent further override of match day setting box.
Once happy with your criteria you must Confirm it. This helps the organiser know you are ready for them to schedule the fixtures. Each team from your club can also override your criteria to fit their needs specifically - in terms of additional dates to avoid or setting their own match day (if you allow). You'll get an indication of how many of your teams have yet to confirm their schedule - you should encourage each team captain to check, set & confirm their own team criteria. You can actually do this for them in the Schedule criteria panel within the Teams tab of Hosted events.
Nominating teams
The league organiser can also set your teams up, so you may not be required to do this.
You can nominate or change details of all teams your club would like entered into the leagues. To do so go to the Teams tab of Hosted events. There you will see all club's team details (but you can only change teams belonging to your club).
To nominate a team (if not already listed), select your club and click the Create new green button. Then you can modify the team name, elect a team captain and suggest the division to which the team is assigned (though the organiser may well do this for you).
Set the captain for each of your teams
A team captain has a crucial role (as per this guide), so it is Important to do this. Go to the Teams tab of Hosted events and select the team, you'll then see a form that allows you to change the team name if necessary and to set the team captain.
Review fixture scheduling
Once the organiser has created the fixture scheduling, you'll be able to review the home schedule by selecting the Fixture list tab within the Fixtures tab of Hosted events. This will include the home fixtures for all teams entered into the leagues by the club.
If the organiser has taken the further step of confirming the schedule, you'll be given the opportunity to individually reschedule any fixture that the club cannot honour. You do this within the Scheduling panel under the Fixtures tab of Hosted events. See this article for further details.
Fixture bookings
As club captain, you take responsibility for booking your courts for home fixtures. If you do not use MMM as your booking system this, of course, has to happen separately on your existing booking system. If you do use MMM as your booking system, happy days, as booking can be fully automated.
We recommend that you select the courts and booking times permitted specifically by creating a Court Set and applying it to Court sets for auto/speed booking under the Conditions tab of Hosted events. Otherwise, MMM will allocate up to 2 courts that fit the start time and court hours as specified in the criteria box under the Fixtures tab of Hosted events. See this article for further details.
Courts will be charged to either the hosting team account or the team captain (if team accounting is disabled). If you wish the court fees to be anything other that what the captain is entitled to in any other booking scenario (including zero charge), then you must set a specific court set and associated price on the event in Price and/or limit booking to the following court sets under the Conditions tab of Hosted events.
You can have MMM automatically book courts for any confirmed, scheduled fixture by ticking the Automatic fixture booking option. If you leave this unticked, you'll need to trigger the booking process yourself (team captains can do so as well, for their team) from the Scheduling panel under the Fixtures tab of Hosted events.
