Once fixtures have been confirmed by the league organiser, any of them may be individually rescheduled as necessary by both the organiser, a club captain or a team captain.
For a club or team captain, only home fixtures can be rescheduled - but they can put in a request for the opposing home team to reschedule an away match.
The display to do this is accessed differently according to who you are:
- League organiser - from within the Scheduling panel under the Schedule tab in Manage events
- Club captain - from within the Scheduling panel under the Fixtures tab in Hosted events
- Team captain - from within the Scheduling panel in My teams
The scheduling panel has two sections. The first is a summary of the number of fixtures scheduled or booked along with appropriate action buttons to instruct MMM to perform scheduling or booking.
The second is a calendar showing when fixtures are scheduled throughout the season. A date box will have a blue icon if there is at least one fixture scheduled on that date. Click on it to get a popup of what those fixtures are.
Rescheduling a fixture is done in two parts - first the removal of the existing scheduled date and, second, the selection of a new date. In the popup you perform the first of these actions - remove the existing schedule by clicking the red bin icon. If it's an away match (for you), this does not actually remove it, but instead sends a message to the opposing (home) team to remove the existing schedule.
Once a fixture's schedule is removed, MMM blocks that date from being reselected by MMM and the fixture will be automatically rescheduled for another appropriate time. This is the action assuming you select Automatically reschedule cancelled fixture radio button selected.
If, instead, you keep the Manually reschedule cancelled fixture radio button selected, then you can manually select any date on which to schedule the fixture. Fixtures that need to be manually scheduled are listed in a selection box above the fixture schedule calendar. You can select one of these unscheduled fixtures and the calendar format changes to allow you to nominate a new date.
You can select any date, but the calendar will indicate what dates are most appropriate:
- A blue tick means the date is recommended
- An orange cross means the date is not recommended
- A red no-entry sign means the date is likely infeasible
None of these stop you from actually choosing the date. But when you do, you will be given the reasons as to why that date may be ill advised after you click it.
In most cases, having chosen a date, you will be given two options:
- Schedule the fixture on that date or...
- Propose that date to the other team as a possible alternative
For the second option, you can choose any number of dates to propose for any one fixture. Proposed dates show up in green on the calendar with a double tick. The opposing team captain will be notified of your proposals. You or the opposing team can then click on one of these dates and set the schedule. You can also take away a proposal you made.
In effect, the above scheme allows you to electronically negotiate a mutually acceptable alternative date.
