A members auto top up function does not work when buying at the bar. This is because the purchase is transacted solely within the confines of the till and ManageMyMatch never gets to intercede in that.
This can be frustrating for some members as, having been refused purchase due to lack of credit, they have to access MMM on their phone and top up there. However, if the member is not equipped to do this the bar operator can do it for them!
If the till operator chooses the Stripe tender as a payment means (having identified the member) then whatever amount is put against that tender will instruct ManageMyMatch to take those funds from their card as payment for whatever they are buying. In effect it is as though the member has handed their card over to the till operator and they have used it to receive payment.
If the till operator had chosen a credit to their account then the card funds would be used to credit their account.
It should be noted that it is possible for the card transaction to fail. Or even that the member had not registered a card at all. In this case the transaction still goes through. However, the members account will be debited to record the fact. If this takes their account into negative territory, then the usual procedure for overdue fees is put in place. This means that the member will not be able to make further bookings or commitments and they will receive clear notifications to top up their account manually to make good.
