Automatic events are created based on two things:
- What you set on the series by ticking the "Automatically roll over a single day event" box
- The court set that is linked to the event as per this article.
For the former, when this box is ticked you get one other option which you could specify which is "If monthly event, select the closest date to host each". If your regular event is monthly this gives you an opportunity to state which day of the month you want each event to fall on.
It says "closest date" because what actually happens is that the court set that is linked to the event influences what week day the event falls on. So moving on to the latter...
In the simple case where you do not specify a month day then ManageMyMatch will set up and book an event every week. But it gets a bit more sophisticated than this. A court set allows you to define a set of courts for any or all days in the week. So if you just, say, defined courts to be used on a Monday then the weekly event will always be on a Monday. Same for all the other 6 days of the week. But you could equally set some courts for both Monday and Wednesday for example. In which case ManageMyMatch would set up two events in every week - one every Monday and another every Wednesday.
In fact, you could specify courts for every day of the week in which case an event would be set up every single day. Which is quite valid.
So the court set gives you the flexibility of choosing which day or days of the week you want your event to occur.
So how does this work if you were to specify a monthly scheme? ManageMyMatch will only book courts on week days as set in the court set. So if you specified the 1st of the month and only set up courts to be used on Wednesday then one event would be created on the first Wednesday of each month. If you wanted to have your event on the 1st no matter what day of week it was, then you'd specify the courts on each and every day of the week in the court set. This can actually be quite useful. For example, if you had an event on the 1st of every month in the evenings, you might want to specify a slightly earlier set of courts for the weekend than you do for the weekdays. This can be done when setting up the court set.
Court sets can be set up by any club official, but, as an Event manager you might want to liaise with the Bookings manager to agree the courts to be made available for the event.
