Introduction
Outside court lights can have a high power consumption and an environmental impact. Clubs may not want to have these lights on unnecessarily in which case they can be configured to require confirmation at the club kiosk. This configuration is set for each court within the Court schedules tab of Manage courts. Tick the Require kiosk confirmation to switch on lights option within the lights panel in the court popup screen.
Member confirmation
Confirmation will be accepted at the club kiosk up to half an hour before they are due to be available. If the member is late for their booking the lights can still be confirmed at any time during the time that they are expected to be on (at least up until 10 minutes before they are due to turn off).
If lights have been configured to require a warm-up time, then the lights will be physically switched on earlier than the booking. For example if the booking is at 6pm and the warm up time is 10 minutes they will switch on at 5:50pm. However, they will only switch on if they have been confirmed at the kiosk. So anyone expecting to play with full light at 6pm in this example should arrive at least 10 minutes early to confirm the lights.
Lights can be "unconfirmed" at any time while they are on which will mean that the lights will immediately be switched off (within 1 minute) if they are already on.
Light has to be confirmed separately for each court. However, for each court the lights will be confirmed for all subsequent booking slots so long as the booking is for the same purpose. For example, the continuation of a half hour personal booking for two hours of play. Or if the booking was made by an events organiser for several consecutive slots for the same event.
As per this article, only certain people are eligible to confirm (or un-confirm) lights for a particular booking. A situation can arise where it is ambiguous as to whether a member wishes to switch off the lights currently or confirm the lights for an up-coming slot. ManageMyMatch will always present the 2nd option first. Take this example: The lights are on at 6:05pm for a half hour booking from 6:00pm to 6:30pm and there is another booking at 6:30pm where the lights are as yet unconfirmed. Assuming the member has rights to control the lights for both bookings, they will be presented with the option to confirm the 6:30pm booking only. Having done so, they will then be presented with the option to switch off the lights.
Club official remote confirmation
A club official can confirm light requirement in advance for any booking slot. Go to the Bookings tab in Manage courts, choose the date and locate the booking slot. Click the light bulb to toggle the confirmation status on or off.
