Where lights are required only outside daylight hours, ManageMyMatch automatically adjusts the time at which they are required on a monthly basis. This time is quite conservative in that it allows for dreary days where light may be required for a considerable period before sun-down. In summer, on bright sunny days this may seem unnecessary.
Conversely, on especially dark days in the Winter there can be occasions when lights would be desirable, but are deemed by the system to be unnecessary.
Since there is no physical light sensor input from the club, this is unavoidable. If the club chooses the option for members to confirm their light requirement, then this is not so much an issue (at least for the former case).
At the latitude of Southern Britain the schedule is as follows:
Month | Time (Universal time) |
January | 3:35pm |
February | 4:30pm |
March | 5:40pm |
April | 6:10pm |
May | 6:59pm |
June | 7:35pm |
July | 7:25pm |
August | 6:40pm |
September | 5:30pm |
October | 4:25pm |
November | 3:25pm |
December | 3:05pm |
The lights will be on for any booking slot that ends beyond the time indicated above. These times are in UT (GMT) time, so for summer time you have to add 1 hour.
To take an example, if you have 30 minute booking slots and it is August then MMM will designate 7:40pm (BST) the time at which light is required. Therefore, they will available for the 7:30pm slot because this slot ends at 8pm which is after 7:40pm
To give a more concrete example assuming 30 minute slots we have light requirement as follows:
Month | Time |
January | 3:30pm |
February | 4:30pm |
March | 5:30pm |
April | 7:00pm (BST) |
May | 7:30pm (BST) |
June | 8:30pm (BST) |
July | 8:00pm (BST) |
August | 7:30pm (BST) |
September | 6:30pm (BST) |
October | 5:00pm (BST) |
November | 3:00pm |
December | 3:00pm |
